Becoming Me: On Comfort Zones

“True self-discovery begins where your comfort zone ends.” Adam Braun

I find the above quote to be absolutely true! My marriage was my comfort zone. For 24 years, my world revolved around my husband and children. I accomplished many things while married, but my focus was on my family. And I don’t regret it. My children are in their twenties, and they are awesome people. But now is my time…now is the time for self-discovery! And I am so excited about what lies in store for me. The same is true for all of you. I promise you, it will feel so freeing if you shout NOW IS MY TIME!

Yes, the winds of change have blown us in directions we were not expecting. None of us thought our marriages would end in divorce. But we are not powerless! We can adjust our sails, our expectation, our attitudes, and our emotions, and take back the control of our lives that we gave over to someone else for far too long. We will be happy, we will have the joy and peace in our lives that we deserve, and we will end up in fulfilled relationships. Life won’t be perfect, but it will be new, adventurous, and full of love. I know we are ALL out of our comfort zones. But when the pain fades, we will see that this new path we are on has so much possibility. I am full of anticipation about what is ahead. This is our journey of healing and recovery. I’m so glad we’re taking it together.
